Typically, jon boats are constructed out of aluminum, fiberglass or wood (Tracker only makes high-strength aluminum jon boats) and come with one, two or three bench seats. Because their hulls are mostly flat, they're most comfortable with riding on top of the waves - unlike bowriders or deck boats, which have hulls built for slicing through waves - and should only be used on calmer Louisiana waters like ponds and lakes.

That being said, some jon boats (like Tracker's GRIZZLY series) comes with a 7o deadrise hull (also known as a "modified V hull") that provides a smoother ride in choppier waters.
